Beginning of the Masai Mara giraffes and simmer

What an amazing first week…

… After a lot of last minute stress and the first long descent of Nairobi, we arrived safe and sound (not robbed on the way), Effie, and Celia's apartment. They quickly took us to experience some close encounters with a variety of African wildlife, treats us to the trip Langata Giraffe Centre and Mamba (crocodile Swahili) Village.

After a day in Nairobi, sorting ourselves out of money and get our bearings, we were out of our way to the Masai Mara. It was a 5-6 hour trip, what seemed to some of Africa's bumpiest roads. After a few pit stops we arrived at our camp site late lunch, and then in the late afternoon / early evening game drive.

Over the next two days we met a lot of characters from the Lion King, including most of the Big Five (lions, rhinos, buffaloes and elephants), cheetahs, hyenas, wildebeest, zebras, impala, mongoose, warthogs, baboons, hippos and countless birds, all up close and personal !

Abundance of wildlife in plain view was incredible, such as how close you came to them, with them in practice, by brushing with a safari van! Even

our camp was surrounded by nature, which kept us awake at night, a nearby Masai village (though not so exotic were mainly sheep, cows and dogs).

We also visited the Maasai village, which was thought-provoking experience, but also left us with mixed feelings about the commercialization of the Masai culture.

It's our fourth day we went to Lake Nakuru National Park, which was very quiet and relaxing compared to the Mara and filled with a beautiful view of the lake, pelicans, flamingos, rhinos, and also some of the baboons having some early morning sex! We were also lucky to spot a leopard in the trees, filling out a collection of Big Five.

When you really wonderful and memorable four days we went back to Nairobi and the need for well-dispersed!
