Welcome to Chez Patou

I have finally reached Basse! I am now to be known as Fatou Jawo. When you get to your compound you get a proper Gambian name so now I am officially Gambian!

My people are connecting fine. Esther (14), Adam (11) and Nafi (10) were quick to call round on Sunday morning to help me remove the cobwebs and place of bleach. They sat with me last

each. I love her. I want to be more like her! It does not take prisoners, and I do not get fancy on her bad side. We were forced to round school of its driver in a huge 4×4. She seemed to know everyone that we passed. I felt like I was driving round with the queen, and I felt very important!

that the next time you think you're working all the time! Plus they pay only about £ 25 a month. I think, NUT branch to establish yourself here.

Life seems a lot quieter here and I miss my friends in Kombos but I think I'm going to like it here in Basse.
