Antarctic helicopter crash kills four French nationals
(CNN) — Four French nationals aboard a helicopter that crashed in Antarctica did not survive, rescuers stated Saturday.
The helicopter went missing on Thursday evening.
French and Australian crews are conducting recovery operations, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority stated in a statement.
The victims were found after a helicopter with a physician flew from a base in Antarctica to the scene of the crash.
Once recovery operations are complete, coordination will be handed over to French authorities, the statement said.
