Emperor Penguin who has lost in its own waters released

"But once they hit the water spared no time in diving off the boat and all those 'aliens' who take care of him for so long," Clay said in a statement posted on the zoo.

It is unclear why the penguin apparently swam more than 3,000 kilometers (1,864 miles) from Antarctica. Clay said in June that the bird was lost in a stream, or perhaps his internal radar went wrong.

The bird was found "exhausted and hungry" Peka Peka Beach on the Kapiti Coast of New Zealand this summer, according to the zoo. He underwent an endoscopy and multiple flushing stomach to the zoo to free his stomach of ingested sand while trying to adapt to foreigners.

"In Antarctica, which normally eat ice to cool and hydrate," Kate Baker, a spokesman for the zoo said in June. And 'the bird can be exchanged or attempted to replace the sand to snow or ice, he said.

The penguin has left the zoo on Monday and has spent the last six days on the research ship in a box specially equipped with ice.

A satellite tracker and microchip will now allow fans to follow the bird, his adventures in Antarctica www.nzemperor.com.
