Emperor penguins that have lost their way back to their native released water

"But when he into the water, he spared no time to dive off the boat and all who" published aliens "who have looked after him so long," Argilla said in a statement on the zoo's website.

It is unclear why the penguin is apparently swam more than 3,000 kilometers (1,864 miles) from the Antarctic. Argilla said in June that the birds gone in a current may be lost, or perhaps his internal radar went wrong.

The bird was found "exhausted and hungry," Peka Peka on the beach on New Zealand's Kapiti Coast this summer, according to the zoo. It has been repeatedly gastric emptying and an endoscopy at the zoo, sand is added to the stomach while trying to adjust to free the foreign environment.

"In the Antarctic, they usually eat ice to cool and hydrate," Kate Baker, a spokeswoman for the zoo said in June. It is possible to confuse the birds or trying to replace the sand from snow or ice, they said.

The penguin left filled to the zoo Monday and spent the last six days on the research vessel in a specially designed box with ice.

A satellite tracker and microchip now allows fans of the birds follow his adventures in Antarctica on www.nzemperor.com.
