In China in December

December Overview:Let’s face it, weather-wise, winter is not the ideal time to travel in China. It’s nose-numbing, cheek-freezing cold in the north and it’s bone-chilling damp and chilly across central China. The south can be ok, you’ll have mild temps but it will still be damp in December, but not as damp as it could be later in the winter.

The good news is, if you come to Beijing or other parts of northern China, rainfall is in December each year at least then you can probably count on the dry day at the Great Wall.

December Weather: December Packing: Levels are essential for packing in the winter weather. North: it is cold during the day and cold at night. You'll probably be grateful if you bring along a light pair of long underwear, fleece and down jacket or windproof. Central: It's pretty cool during the day and cooler at night, but rarely freezing. A heavy base layer (eg jeans, boots and sweaters) and a rain / windproof jacket is enough. In the South it is still relatively warm. In late autumn dress is fine, but bring something to light occasional cool evening and rainy day.Visiting in China in December – Advantages: There are no holidays in December, and people do work hard to take up Chinese New Year (January / February), so China's main attractions are not as crowded as rush hour times.Dry Weather in Beijing and elsewhere in northern China will make a cold, but it is almost guaranteed to dry outlook seeing.Mild weather in central and southern China, is a nice sight-seeing and touring.Visiting in China in December – Cons:

It's cold! Cold but dry in the north, cold and wet all over central China.
