Arriving in Sydney
If you arrive in Sydney on a foreign airline, you will land at Sydney international terminal at Kingsford Smith Airport at Mascot in southern Sydney.
You will need to pass through the usual arrival of the steps that go through immigration and customs. (It should be free trailers after Passport Control for your luggage.)
If you have a bus provided by your Sydney hotel, find everything you need to do it and get on it.
Some of the hotels with free airport shuttle service is Stamford Plaza, Holiday Inn, Hotel, Ibis Hotel and Airport Sydney International Inn.
Otherwise, you have several options:
Take a taxi. It costs about $ 30 for a taxi from the airport to Sydney Central Station in the heart of the city, but could cost more if caught in heavy traffic. An airport fee of $ 3 applies. If taxi is going through some of Sydney toll roads, the tolls are added to the ticket. The taxi can take four passengers. Ideally, you should be on Central in 15 minutes. In heavy traffic, who knows? Take the train. There is a rail link from the airport to Central Station. The single adult fare from Sydney International Airport to Sydney Central Station was $ 15.20 in July 2009. This can now be changed. Note that there are no luggage racks on the train that would be a problem if you have a lot of luggage. The trip to Central should take 10-15 minutes. You can take the connecting train (or bus or a combination of trains, buses and even ferries) from Central to your destination.Take on the shuttle bus. There are several buses serving the Sydney International Airport. Fares depend on where you're going. Ask at the airport. As an example, charging KST Airporter $ 13 each way and $ 22 round trip from the airport to the designated points in the city.
NOTE: All transportation costs listed are subject to change and should be considered the minimum you must pay.
Central is used here only to compare the costs and travel times. Central Station is located at the southern end of Sydney's city center, between George St and Elizabeth St.
The airport train stops at the central, but with buses you can ask if they can drop you off at your hotel, especially if it is in or on the way to downtown Sydney.
RECOMMENDATION: For travel from the airport to where you will live to be a taxi to be both cost effective (especially for three or four passengers) and comfortable in the sense that you can face your exact destination.
But if a bus is available to get you to your place of accommodation, you may want to use a bus instead. Your coach will cost will remain the same even if you are caught in heavy traffic.
During your stay you will find that you can get anywhere in Sydney, public transport (consisting of trains, buses, ferries), private or non-state buses or by taxi.
If you prefer to use a taxi, you can call for one.
Here are some phone numbers to Sydney cabs:
Legion Cabs 131-451RSL Cabs 02-9581-1111Taxis composite, 133-300.
There is no reason to turn 02 area code if calling from within the Sydney area.
If you plan to travel by taxi during rush hour, for example, when people come to work in the morning or come home at night, it might be best to pre-book a taxi even the day before. Allow slower travel times during these busy periods.
