Spirit Airlines will start offering vacation packages
NEW YORK – Spirit Airlines Inc. began offering vacation packages on its website Tuesday, a step aimed at bringing the discount airlines more revenue from sources other than airfare.

Spirit, based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is already about one-third of its income from fees. Spirit charges extra for luggage, luggage fits in the overhead bin, designated places and even water on its flights.
The decision to sell travel packages, including accommodation and car rental booking within said Barry Biffle, chief marketing Spirit, at an investor conference in New York.
Moving mirrors the business strategy adopted by another discount airline, Allegiant Travel Co., which is about 30 percent of its revenue from the sale of hotel packages in countries such as his hometown of Las Vegas.
Promote the hotel offers, including Spirit and junior hotels with free tickets purchased on Thursday for some of the dates of the trip in October.
