The first flight will leave a lasting impression

Do you remember your first airplane ride?

Julie McKinney does. There is no doubt that other passengers on the flight do, too.

Now 23, McKinney remembers singing with other passengers. "The song continued until the end of the flight and do not remember anyone getting upset. I think of it now every time I fly and I can not imagine how I'd react to a child sitting in front of me singing."

Whether it was 50 years ago or just last week, the first plane ride you like the first kiss can leave a lasting impression and have an impact on what kind of traveler you are done.

Also memorable: "The first roller-coaster feeling that hits your stomach when the plane suddenly drops a few times during turbulence. This feeling gets me even today, but it's totally different when you're not waiting for the plane to do that."

Raymond Kollau, which now tracks new airline airlinetrends.com, first boarded a plane when he was 16, in the summer of 1986. "From the air, the waves of the Mediterranean looked like dolphins," said Kollau. «I remember my sister saying that she could not walk on the runway because the plane will lean forward or backward."

Gum balls, not cotton balls, welcomed Thomas Sawyer on his first flight. Sawyer, the bladder cancer survivor who made news last year for his experience with a botched airport pat-down, took his first flight as a young newlywed with his wife, Sherry. At the end of that flight, he realized he'd been sitting on a wad of gum. "The very good looking stewardess attempted to remove it and my wife finally said to her, 'I think I will take care of that, thank you.' She obviously didn't want this young lady touching my butt. We have laughed about it for 41 years, "said Sawyer.

Still, in preparation for this first flight, Orville wrote in his diary, "… It is amazing that all these secrets kept for so many years just so we can find!"

Many airlines also once distributed plastic wings for first time flyers. While most players ended in a tangible souvenirs like first flight certificate and wings, such as reducing costs step after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Delta Air Lines recently brought back the tradition.

"I wish I still had the stick-on wings to give children and / or a certificate to present to them like we used to," says Kelly Vrajitoru, also an American flight attendant Airlines. Remember that the first flight on 5 years, he held tight to her mother's hand "feeling in my stomach lift and took off."

Once on board, Jacob got the royal treatment. A hostess produced a set of wings from a secret stash that I had squirreled away. Flight attendants and other passengers took photos. One passenger gave Jacob a disposable camera so he could be in flight.

What does Jake remember most? "We go into the cockpit and let me take the plane," he says.
