Located just outside the Vondelpark and the museum district, where the Flying Pig Uptown recently renovated in 2010 and is a fine alternative to the Flying Pig Downtown, the owners are constantly busy flagship hostel in the Red Light District. Uptown you get the party-centered atmosphere with detoxification properties next to the Vondelpark – you can even borrow skates to explore. The bar is always full, as are the kitchen, where visitors tape over the stove. Unsurprisingly, this gives birth to an active place with people coming and going around the clock. Be warned: the hostel is strictly on his under-35S only politics, but if you are beyond that limit, you are unlikely to want to share a room with a horde of rowdy 18-year-olds.

You can guess that Backstage owners are big music lovers from the hotel's name alone, and the interior theme runs at home – guitars and memorabilia adorn the walls, and it is also sponsored by Jack Daniels. Part of the concept comes from the location: minutes from music venues Melkweg and Paradiso, the theater district and a good selection of blues bars. The furniture is all inspired by the flight case, while the bulbs border mirrors to recreate the authentic atmosphere locker room. There is also a four-person rooms Guitar Hero (yes, including the game) that is decorated in wall-to-wall original artwork by legendary tattoo artist Henk Schiffmacher Amsterdam.

Stayokay Hostel Amsterdam Vondelpark
• Zandpad 5, 31 20 589 8996, stayokay.com, hostel beds from € 20pp B & B, private double rooms from € 60 B & Bs
A cute alternative to the design and boutique hotels blooming all over town, this quirky B & Bs in De Pijp, a short walk from dozens of museums, lovingly decorated by their owners. Its three rooms embrace a mishmash of styles – filled with antiques, picked curios and other seemingly random points on trips, ranging from colonial cabinets and Arabic carpets to neoclassical chandeliers. All rooms are equipped with private bathrooms, and there is a communal kitchen for all guests. As is so common in Amsterdam budget range, but you have to watch out for the climb. It can feel like a stairway to hell to reach the third floor rooms, especially when you drag your luggage.
The budget stays near Central Station are notoriously sloppy, but take a five minute walk west and you'll find this honest little gem that is appropriate and chic, well, basic. Situated on one of the quietest parts of the Herengracht, this Canal House Hotel has been refurbished from a classic Mediterranean feel with clarity of bright white walls and linens with black trim and minimal furniture. Although there is an Ikea-esteem in the interior at times, but it is a solid, value for money option. And important information such as location, cleanliness, service and free internet terminals should compensate to have a generic Art Print above the bed.
• Herengracht 13-19, 31 20 522 2345, chicandbasic.com, double room from € 90 B & Bs
This new Dutch chain, you collect praise, especially since it was opened in Glasgow 2010th It began in Amsterdam, first as an airport hotel at Schiphol airport, then in the south of the city. Even a boutique hotel in the heart (the fancy Vitra furnishings are a giveaway), the service, luxurious beds and rates budget makes this a haven for everyone from backpackers to business travelers. Each room is identical, with one wall to the bed to the window and futuristic glass shower and toilet to the side. All technical functions, including ambient colored lights are controlled by Philips Moodpad. Party people may feel uneasy in this residential area, but it is just a short tram or train ride away.
Prove that it is possible to find solitude among the noise and action of the heart, this delicate little B & B is located above a small side street between the rumbling trams on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal and bustle of Nieuwendijk shopping street. As there are only five minutes from Central Station, you will get a rare taste of central Amsterdam, living with easy access to nearby points of interest while avoiding the area's seedier hotels. Rooms have a clean, Swedish sensation. The only minor downer is to share the plush bathroom facilities, but given that there are only two rooms to rent, there is no such difficulty. It is also known for friendliness, comfort and cleanliness, and you will feel waited on by the owner Camillo.
This place is all about location and price: a quiet courtyard on the eve of the nightlife-saturated Leidseplein. Brinker is the same budget as the budget will be, a fact most famously used in the long-term marketing campaign that boasts that it is "a cheap, dirty, cold, poorly lit hostel" with "rusty beds in awkward-shaped dormitory 'and paper flags stuck in dog poop throughout the city proclaim that more of the same could be found at the hostel entrance. The bedrooms, with their loved arranged metal bunks and lockers, remember the set of porridge, and the rooms are awkwardly shaped, but the place is surprisingly neat. It is the perfect place for young travelers who are likely to fall asleep in one of the surrounding bars anyway.
• Kerkstraat 136-138, +31 20 622 0687, Hans-brinker.com, hostel beds from € 25pp B & B, double room € 80 B & Bs
St. Christopher's at Winston
Like its neighboring pub and club, the Winston hotel / hostel dripping with character. On the edge of the Red Light District, it is surrounded by S & M clubs, cafes, bars and restaurants. But Ladies and multi cultural excursions are just a short walk away. The cheapest option is a hostel, but do not expect much sleep there. Rather than splash out on a private space for a unique stay in Amsterdam, each room has been adapted by local artists. From bold street art murals and drug-inspired graffiti to riotous red light vibes that will haunt you even after you close your eyes, you're unlikely to forget the experience.
• Warmoesstraat 129, +31 20 623 1380, winston.nl, hostel beds from € 14.90pp B & B, private double rooms from € 74 B & Bs
