Hotel Review: The Varsity Hotel & Spa, Cambridge

Group of Cambridge graduates get top marks for the whistle of a new building, which offers inspiring views of the historic city

This is the age since I visited Cambridge – to open a 10-second or 11-Hotel Du Vin in 2007. Now, a new hotel in the city center will be reported in the press information that would break out of the townhouse boutique mold.

Great – now I can of vegetables, with new magazines, a giant screen and Elemis-scented bath should zonking on Hypnos mattress.

Even the sun is shining the next morning, when I do a heavy curtain. The absence of a bathroom shelf, and to drink tea from a cup of espresso chunky not able to outshine the comfort, spectacular service, and the fact that I have a massage booked at the Aveda spa Glassworks immediately after breakfast. The result, result, result.

WHAT TO DO in the field: local residents

Roberto Pintus, general manager of Varsity Hotel and Spa

Punting trips should. Next to the hotel at Magdalen Bridge, you will find punts Scudamore's (scudamores.com). They will be happy to advise on a trip that takes in the stunning architecture and history at Cambridge University, or a relaxing punt along the meadows of Grantchester.

Primavera Gallery (primaversauk.com) on parade king is great if you need a gift, or would like to view. The shop has three floors displaying more than 700 artists and was based initially in London, Henry Rothschild of the Rothschild family to promote contemporary British art and design. RP

HS Ede, who set up the Kettle's Yard's (kettlesyard.co.uk) in his old home on Castle Street, described him as "at home and welcome, a refuge of peace and order, art and music." It really feels like you've come to the house of a friend. Exhibition space at the bottom of a busy calendar of interesting shows and concerts, sometimes free lunch.

For a pub with a bit of history at Cambridge, an eagle's head in Bene't-Street. Apart from the fact that this beautiful old pub with great beer garden, it's cool in the summer, the place is also famous for the fact that scientists Crick and Watson interrupted lunch patrons "here in 1953 to declare that they have discovered the" secret life ", which is actually open DNA.
