Leaving Dubai for the secret destination…
After shopping at Carrefour for my own personal minibar and shisha with a selection of flavours, I realised i was running a tiny late. I still had to pack my honeymoon bag, pick up the wife, fill up petrol in my hire automobile before dropping it to terminal 1 and then transfer to terminal 3 where we had to check in, visit the pharmacy (for anti-sickness tablets) and get our last halal burger king.
It was midnight (flight at 03:20) and I was pooing my panties. I got a call from the dad in law asking if I had left and swiftly explained that I was almost there and quickly started to pack.
Eventually I collected Tehseen at 01:20 and we set off for the airport, however my lovely wife had forgotten a vital tool in my plan to get a free upgrade. Silly Billy, she forgot the marriage certificate. So back we went and the later we got.
With a bit of slick driving we were at the airport within 20 minutes, however we had not past a petrol station and the automobile had to be returned with a full tank. The search continued.
Finally petrol was filled and the automobile was returned. Managed to blag a free lift to terminal 3 and we were living la vida! Honeymoon here we come!
Time: 02:20. Tess ran for the 1st time in her life (with a trolley of bags) to the check in desk. We had no tickets, had not checked in and Tess had no idea where we were going. I said, we are on the 03:20 to…Male, Maldives!
After a bit of smooth speaking and Tess’s Louis V on display, the check in guy explained that there was good news and bad news. The bad news: we were overweight because of my extensive portable minibar and I was forced to leave back the crate of water. The good news: we were SFU! (Suitable for upgrade). Flying business class baby!
03:17. We boarded the fight as the last two passengers and were offered fresh orange juice, hot towels, chicken sandwiches and fruit. With the seats fully reclined and massaging us…Tess and I knocked out…
