Welcome to Tel Aviv

שלום

Shalom to all my good friends and family who will be following my experiences while I study here at Tel Aviv University.

Upon my arrival here in Israel I’ve had a few technological difficulties, such as, forgetting my camera cord to recharge it’s battery and then my laptop deciding to shut down with no way to reboot the darn thing.

Besides those two things, all else is falling into place. This last week I started Ulpan here at the university. For those who do not know: Ulpan is an institute or school for the intensive study of Hebrew (wiki). My class here starts on Sunday and finishes Thursday every week. I must say, that getting up at 7:30 in the morning (especially on a Sunday) has not been the easiest thing to do. I do not comprehend how anyone can anticipate someone to learn/retain any form of information that early, it just doesn’t work without some form of a simulating aid (caffeine).

The Dorms:

Thankfully I decided to come to Tel Aviv University this year and not the one before. The reason I state this is due fact up until recently the dorms did not have air-conditioning! The humidity here can be a killer, so until you are able to cool down at the beach, your room is the next ideal thing. I totally lucked out when it came to a roommate for he is a fellow CU BUFF! I not used to sharing living quarters with three other guys, but its all good. One nice thing about the dorms is that they are right across the street from campus. I’ll be posting some pics soon.

I will continue this later . . . I have an exam tomorrow, so until then, peace!
