DENVER – Frontier Airlines announced flight cancellations through Monday after the golf ball-sized hail in Denver International Airport has taken nearly a third of its Airbus fleet out of service.

The Denver-based carrier said it had removed a total of 96 flights for the Saturday, Sunday and Monday, on top of more than 100 flights had been scheduled to leave Thursday and Friday.
Eighteen of the 59 Airbus aircraft carrier and two turboprops were damaged by hail Wednesday night.
The storm was part of a pattern that monsoon National Weather Service meteorologist Scott Entrekin told the Denver Post has been weakening in the area, but could still last another week.

Another top operator at the airport in Denver, Southwest Airlines, said that three of its aircraft were damaged by hail, but with 550 aircraft in the fleet, which did not have to delay or cancel flights.
Frontier said it was paying hotel bills for passengers who were stranded. In addition, taxes were levied for those changes must reprogram travel, airline spokesman Peter Kowalchuk told The Post.
