The stakes are high in Atlantic City, which is the fifth consecutive year, the loss of income caused by the explosion of casinos in neighboring states and is exacerbated by the weak economy.

Over the past five years, he tried to remake itself as a destination resort for the higher costs of clients wishing to stay for a few days and take in the show, go shopping and eat in fine restaurants in addition to gambling.

New statistical surveys on the spectrum of Gaming Group, a consulting Atlantic City-area company, shows that the strategy works, to some extent. It was established casino win per visitor almost $ 134 last year, compared to 3.6 percent from 2009 and nearly 8 percent since 2008.

"Clearly, the low-end visitor is likely to migrate to other places," said Michael Pollock, managing director of Spectrum's. "But it also shows that you have the opportunity to spend your visitor a high class, if you have something to offer them.

"You want to replace the player with the convenience of the customer of a higher class," he said. "We're not replacing them yet, we're just holding on to the right class now would you like to have both happen at the same time .."

"I'm a little fish, not the best of times a player," he said. "I just came here to have fun and visit."

Laine said he would produce "as cheaply as possible" in a casino.

"You play the penny slots, and you win 100, which is one dollar," he said. According to him, he will spend several hundred dollars during his tenure.

Bob Griffin, CEO of Trump Entertainment Resorts, said the trend is evident in three of his company's Atlantic City casino.

"Players who are loyal to Atlantic City to play more," he said. "We're more of the players is less than a business, we lose a player's convenience;. They just sit at home, but the major players stick with us .."

The survey showed less than 26.7 million people visited Atlantic City casinos in 1911 in 2010, the vast majority of them in the car – more than 22.9 million. Bus passengers were less than 3.8 million people, 13 per cent.

"Büsing for a long, slow goodbye," Pollock said. "Buses just have 15 million people a year here."

This, again, mainly due to the emergence of regional casinos in Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware and Connecticut suburbs, which are all-consuming day off players who were once Atlantic City bread and butter.

Bally's had the most passengers on a bus around 684,000, which is 5.3 percent compared with last year. Its sister property, Showboat Casino Hotel was about 638,000, which is 3.4 percent.

Harrah's Resort Atlantic City was 3.25 million passenger cars, Caesars Atlantic City was 3.1 million, and Bally's was 2.3 million.

Resorts Casino Hotel, which was sold in December, after almost no money and having to close, saw almost 700,000 passengers in the car last year, a decrease of 7.4 percent.

The survey also grouped into 11 casinos on the location and found the most profitable players played in three casinos in the Marina area: Borgata, Harrah's and Trump Marina Hotel Casino. Average revenue per customer among those casinos was $ 142, which is less than 1 percent from 2009 and down 4.2 percent from 2008.

Three casinos in the so-called cluster includes – Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, Showboat and Resorts – saw average profit per customer from $ 138, which is 1.3 per cent in 2009 and 5.6 percent in 2008.

Midtown cluster – Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, Caesars and Bally's – saw average profit per customer from $ 128, which is 12,3 percent in 2009 and 13.7 percent in 2008.
