The woman says the TSA's request afro hair pat-down
Is it possible to hide the weapon in your hair?
Transportation Security Administration thinks so.
Dallas resident Isis Brantley said she was stopped on Monday at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, after she went through security, NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reports.
Brantley said the agent asked her if someone checked her hair. She said no one had, and continues on his way. Then she heard someone shouting as she went down the escalator to catch her flight.
"I just heard this voice say," Hey, hey you, ma'am, stop Stop -. The lady with the hair you have, "she said.
Two TSA agents said that she could not go any further, until they checked his hair for the presence of explosives, Brantley said.
She said that she was reluctant to allow them to do it. Agents stroked her hair at once, instead of asking to go back to the private area for screening.
"And then she started stroking my hair and I was in tears at that moment," Brantley said. "And she was digging into my head."
She said that experience was very humbling.
"I was outraged," Brantley said. "I was humiliated. I was confused."
After a pat down, Brantley complained to TSA manager at Hartsfield-Jackson, who then apologized to her.
"She said," Ma'am, please, I promise you I'll take care of it. I am so sorry that happened to you, "Brantley said." And I'm like, "Well, it's strange."
Brantley, who hairstyle for life, often travels in the style of clients across the country. She said she wore her hair natural for 20 years and never had a hair checked until the incident on Monday.
"They've never done this to me, ever – never, never, never," she said.
Brantley said that she fears she will be harassed the next time she flies.
