TSA asks the elderly to fly diaper removal of physical

According to the Northwest Florida Daily News, a woman filed a complaint with the Department of Homeland Security stating that her 95-year-old mother was asked by officials from the Transportation Security Administration to remove the diaper for adults to follow a pat-down research.
The incident apparently took place June 18 when the mother of Jean Weber, who is in the final stages of leukemia, was attempting to fly from the north-west of the Florida Regional in Michigan to visit relatives. Weber's mother requested the help of a wheelchair to pass through security.
Sari Koshetz, a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration in Miami, who declined to comment specifically on the case, told the Daily News that the policy of pat-down passengers in wheelchairs.
"TSA can not release any group screening of intelligence because we know that there are terrorists out there who would then exploit this vulnerability," Koshetz told the newspaper.
Weber said that his mother was detained for 45 minutes. She was taken into a glass-partitioned area for a pat-down and then in another private room for additional screening. Weber said the security personnel emerged from the room and asked his mother to remove the diaper, which was dirty, in order to complete the search. Weber's mother in the bathroom and removed her diaper, Weber's mother had another clean diaper with her.
A representative of Homeland Security said Weber, on Wednesday that the procedures were correctly followed during the search.
"It 's something that I could not imagine happening on American soil," Weber told the Daily News. "Here are my mother, 95 years, 105 pounds, barely able to stand, and then this."
