Restaurant Noma in Copenhagen, has topped the list of top 50 best restaurants in the world, maintain its position as number one in years.
List compiled by Restaurant magazine, was awarded the coveted prize in the Danish restaurant awards ceremony, which saw Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck to come in the fifth – down to two seats fewer than the previous year.
The big news is the top 50 list was the lack of El Bulli in Spain. Plays the winner of the past, the restaurant was removed from the list as a chef Ferran Adrià's restaurant has decided to close later this year. Peter Walker writes:
Spanish cuisine is prominent in the views of 837 judges the world – a mix of chefs, writers and restaurateurs – and second spot in El Celler de Can Roca, a three Michelin-starred restaurant in Girona manages three brothers. In the background was Mugaritz, in the Basque country.
What kind of picture does not paint a list of restaurants from country to country? We were curious, so have been collected by a brief summary of the top 50 list:
• France is the largest number of restaurants on the list of eight, but the U.S. following closely behind with six and five in Spain
• UK features four restaurants, the best restaurant in the list of Fat Duck, Ledbury, St. John, and hibiscus. Ledbury also became the highest new entry at third-fourth place
• The highest climber was Nihonryori Ryugin Japan. It managed to jump 28 places it in the list in previous years, the 20 best restaurants in the world
• Russia and Peru appeared on the list for the first time this year in Moscow Vavravy and Astrid y Gaston in Lima
