Auctions Groupon bus leaves passengers stranded

Are you a fan of the "daily deals" in your inbox every morning from Groupon and other discount sites?

But buyer beware: Some Southern California residents, the round-trip bus tickets are discounted by Groupon and Voice Daily Deals for purchased travel to Las Vegas were on dry land, when the buses did not turn up, broke or were hours late, NBC San Diego reported.

The offer, which was traveling in the summer and promoted by several news and shopping sites, left many passengers frustrated and cheated.

Shermetria Maddox purchased their business on Groupon for $ 55. "You can not beat that," Maddox said.

I started with Maddox outside the Bally Casino in Las Vegas. She was waiting with a bunch of luggage sitting out on their way home to pick Anaheim.

Their travel was provided by LUX ground transportation available and promised a return trip on a "luxury bus" with free Wi-Fi, premium movies, snacks and an "unlimited drinks" option.

Getting to Las Vegas from her home in Anaheim was uneventful. The bus was an hour late, they can live with. Getting home was another story.

The LUX bus never came. Two shuttle buses finally by another company, which had been closed by LUX, for the stranded passengers waiting to go home to California to rescue.

The passengers arrived at their drop-off locations in Los Angeles, Anaheim and San Diego to clock 01.00 – five hours late.

Mark Gray Elle and her friends bought 15 coupons for doing the same. It was through Voice Daily Deals, which operates under the Village Voice featured on more than one nickname, and distributed outlets including the LA Weekly and OC Weekly.

"I thought I found a deal," Gray said. "Forty-five bucks round-trip to Las Vegas."

But Gray had second thoughts about the deal of confidence after reading bad reviews on Yelp. She canceled her trip.

On a recent morning, Alex Cassidy was waiting for his bus from Huntington Beach that are expected to go to Las Vegas at 8:30 clock from the Marriott Hotel near Los Angeles International Airport was.

He had purchased a discounted ticket of Voice Daily Deals.

"We waited and waited," he said.

By 1 clock Cassidy received a phone call. The bus was canceled.

Cassidy went home, fetched his car and drove to Las Vegas.

Finally he got his money back.

Groupon she says LUX screened before the promotion and the bus company met their "high quality standards."

A month later, "we found that the dealer was not satisfactory performance," said Julie Mossler of Groupon. Groupon canceled the deal and refund the passengers the money.

But how thoroughly, is that screening process? A review of the LUX motor carrier registration number shows on the U.S. Department of Transportation Web site that the company does not appear to have a valid license.

LUX now seems to be out of business. The doors of the San Jacinto office are locked and the windows papered.

Daily Deals voice she said to do their best to vet every business. "We have done a lot of offers, and 99 percentof them are really good," said Beth Sestanovich, group publisher of the LA Weekly, Orange Weekly.

How to protect yourself? Contact the company to ensure that they honor the web much. If you can not get them on the phone, as you will pick up on your voucher?

And check out reviews for Yelp.com. I know some of Vegas travelers who want them.
