And this numberdoesn't include countless knives are displayed in the airport security checkpoints every day – so many that the TSA does not even keep count – or several inert hand grenades that passengers trying to take home as souvenirs.

The two guns were arrested passengerswith; The traveler with the knives out, and weapons were seized.

It is unlikely that passengers who plan to use their weapons during the flight, but it is difficult to know for sure because people often respond to challenging TSA saying, "I forgot I was in my bag."

Given the frequency with which illegal guns are discovered, Overhead Bin asked TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein for advice on the proper way to fly with guns.

Farbstein said fliers can carry firearms, ammunition and firearms in checked baggage, even if those items prohibited from cabin baggage.

"Basically, travelers must declare all firearms, ammunition and parts for the airline during the ticket counter check-in process," said Farbstein. "The gun must be unloaded and must be a hard-sided container container must be locked."

Or maybe, just plan to leave your guns at home.
