Rental Car too expensive? How about a moving truck?

Find an affordable rental car is a common problem faced by today's travelers. Here's an unusual solution.

Typical prices of car rental more than doubled in recent years. When you add in a sense, rental rates, repair costs, and airport taxes and surcharges, it can sometimes seem more profitable to buy a car instead of renting and then selling it once the trip is completed.

This is exactly what St. Michael Kruse PetersburgTimes writer considered while planning a recent trip in the Northwest. Krause just wanted to pick up a car in Jackson, Wyoming, Tetons and a tour of eastern Washington, then drop the car off in Seattle five days later. The rate of absolute least he could find was almost $ 1,300 for a Chevrolet Aveo dinky no less. I am working at a cost of $ 260 per day, not to add insurance or gas.

Instead of going with a typical car rental (or purchase), wife of Lauren Krause made a comment about casual U-Haul, which eventually led Krause to discover that taking a truck budget 16 feet to move their adventure would cost less than $ 400 ($ 372.79, to be exact). They went with the truck, even after taking into account the additional costs for gas – moving trucks are not known for energy efficiency – Krause estimated to have saved $ 800 to $ 900.

The truck was not exactly the ideal vehicle to navigate the mountain roads. (For this question, a Chevy Aveo is not the first choice of many drivers, either.) But the truck went around, and eventually save Krause and his family a great deal of change.
