Troubleshooting: a four-star resort? Really?
Q: Recently, I booked a four star hotel in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, through Hotwire. Hotwire claims its four-star hotels are prestige properties observed. Not only that, but the map of the region is as if it runs along the coast, almost inevitably at a station near the beach.
After I made my purchase, I discovered I had a room at the Hotel Hacienda Vista Real Spa, which was far from the beach. According to TripAdvisor.com, they will review at least 85 percent wrong. I travel with my husband and baby, and want to avoid taking taxis to get to the beach.

At first I tried to tell the hotel that Hotwire was neither prestige nor well known, and it was not close to the beach. But now that I read the comments, I am even more concerned. Hotwire sent me a form response, saying: "We looked at the location of the hotel and it is checked in Playa del Carmen -. Playacar, Quintana Roo area of town "What should I do? – Valerie Acosta, Fullerton, California
A: Hotwire should more you type a letter in response to your request for review of your hotel assignment. But before proceeding to the error Hotwire, talk about your booking choice. Did you say that you have booked a resort in Mexico for you and your baby through Hotwire? Seriously?
I'm not Hotwire not great rates on hotels – in fact it often does. I used Hotwire a couple of times and saved a bundle. But this is not a sure thing. When you buy on the site, you can not find the name of the property until you have paid for it, and the rooms are totally non refundable. You might find yourself with a hotel, you do not want in a place you never expected, and that is exactly what seems to have happened with you.

Another problem that is common to Hotwire is something called inflation stars. Then the site gives a much more stars than merit, in an effort to make more money. According to Hotwire, a four-star establishment is "distinctive" and offers a high quality service and comfort will make your stay more comfortable and convenient. These may include a gourmet kitchen, a lounge, a health and fitness and concierge services.
TripAdvisor, which happens to share a parent company with Hotwire gave your hotel a 40 percent negative rating when I checked. (Reviews ranged from "perfect" to "not stay here.") But was it a four stars – or not?
I contacted Hotwire and asked if he was sure the coast. A representative calls you and tells you that they had reviewed the rating of the Hacienda, and decided she no longer justified to four stars. Hotwire offered you $ 25 in gift certificates per night or a full refund. You've decided to stay at the Hacienda and take the certificate.
