Tweets, emails now say travelers park roads

Gatlinburg, Tenn. – Visitors to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park can check on road conditions on the electronic text or Twitter.

Previously, travelers had to call the park to see if the roads were closed or stain.

Park manager Dale Ditmanson says new enhancements to better serve the public and reduce the burden on the staff of the park.

Customers with cell phones or Internet access can now get information immediately.

In addition to the conditions of winter roads, the park intends to warn travelers rock slides, fallen trees or accidents that affect traffic in the park.
